Little Love Shack - DIY Heart Flower Wreath

I am a firm believer that the best way to get over the end of one holiday is to jump head first into the next one aka holiday junkie.  And would you believe Valentine's Day is only one month from today??  Time to get crackin'
I got this little plastic playhouse as a hand me down from my step sister and then decided to give it a makeover.  I used spray paint to give it a new fresh look and it was super easy to do.  Usually I try to keep our d├ęcor pretty neutral, but my love of all things pink and girly cannot be contained during this holiday! Sorry Chad and Jack.  I used to be super crafty and lately I have majorly slacked in that department (thanks to two kids I guess).  I wanted a cute wreath to hang on the play house and I just couldn't find what I wanted so I decided to dust off the old hot glue gun and give it a shot.  I had some paper flowers that I found at target on clearance last fall (that were actually napkin holders), but you could use any kind of fake flowers to make this.  I used a wire clothes hanger to make the shape of the heart and some wire cutters to clip off the excess and twist the end tight.

The heart doesn't have to be perfect since you will make the final shape with the flowers.  I simply put a little hot glue on the back of the flowers and glued them one at a time to the wire until I had the look I was going for.  I took a piece of twine and made a loop and glued that to the top to hang it by.  The whole project took maybe 10 minutes and viola, flower wreath!!!
I also love to support small shops and it just so happens that two of my very favorite shops have the absolute cutest VDay pretties right now.  The woolie ball garland is from The Whimsical Woolies and the conversation heart banner is from Glitter Party CO.  They added the perfect flair to our little love shack!

I found the little hanging window basket at hobby lobby and I hot glued command hooks to hold it in place.  That was Olivia's favorite part. She totally doesn't mind that the flowers are fake ;)

I have so much fun with this little house and I love to decorate it for every season and holiday!  If you have any more questions, just ask!  Happy Sunday friends!

Christmas 2017

Finally getting around to sharing our Christmas and since I am already so late I guess I can just throw new years in here too, right?  This Christmas was the best yet with the kids.  They were both so excited and the magic was just so real!  Before I tucked Olivia into bed Christmas eve I was singing to her and she asked if we could sing happy birthday to Jesus and we did.  I couldn't help but tear up just a little at her sweetness.  After she said, I bed Jesus is smiling right now, and I assured her he definitely was.  I made her promise to come straight into our room in the morning before she peeked at the tree and all of her goodies so I could see her reaction.  This was the first year Jack really understood that he was getting presents and he was pumped!  He kept asking all day if Santa was coming yet and running and looking under the tree every 10 minutes.  They both went to sleep super quick and actually slept through the night - Merry Christmas Mommy and Daddy!
Christmas morning Chad and I woke up before the kids and even had time to fix a cup of coffee before we heard the first sounds of pitter-pattering on the steps, it was Olivia.  I rushed up stairs to meet her and she had the biggest grin on her face.  I never want to forget those sweet smiles. We went in and woke Jack up and all came down stairs together.  They were both so excited, but Olivia was definitely more into it. She opened all of her presents and most of Jack's, but he didn't mind one bit.

Later that morning we went to Nana's to open more presents and have brunch with my sister and her family.  The kids played together until naptime and we all came home and rested. We spent the night at home relaxing and got up and did another Christmas with my Dad's side of the family the next day.

The next week the kids took turns running fevers and I decided it was a good idea to take all of the Christmas decorations down in one day and in the process jumped off my kitchen counters and wound up with a lovely stress fracture on my right foot.  That didn't stop us from throwing a little NYE festive breakfast and countdown at noon for the kids.

We started a new tradition this year with the Oh New Years Tree.  I kept the kids tree up in the playroom and we read the fun book and I let them help me dress it up for new years.  It was such a cute idea I think we will have to do it every year. We spent the rest of the night watching movies and chilling out and the kids were in bed before 8...soon to be followed by Chad and me party rockers!  It was the perfect way to bring in the new year!

We have spent the last week nursing sickness with the kids and my foot injury and I think we are all about ready for some spring weather that is supposed to come this week.  Yes, I know I am begging for spring in January, but after Christmas is over we have no use for cold weather anymore ;)
I wish you all the happiest and healthiest new year with your loved ones!
One of my new years resolutions is to blog more so hopefully you'll here from me again before June.  If not, I am going with the whole, resolutions are made to be broken excuse...fair warning ha!
Happy new year!!!
