Christmas in the Kid’s Rooms!

*product gifted by Scotch Brand, all opinions are my own*

I love sprinkling little bits of Christmas magic around the house and especially in the kid’s rooms.  It is so much fun to see their little eyes light up with excitement as they see the decorations.  I started in Olivia’s room with the idea to make it look like it was snowing.  She has been asking for snow for Christmas and since we live in Alabama we have a very slim chance, so I wanted to bring a little bit of her wish to her room décor.

I used Scotch® Wall-Safe Tape to string snowflakes tied with fishing line from the ceiling.  I had to move them around a little and I am happy to report the tape did not damage my ceiling and held tight even after moving!

I always change out the bookshelves with festive books and of course a cute banner! (also from Glitter Party co) I used good old Scotch® Magic™ Tape on each side of the shelf to hold up the garland and tucked the excess string behind the books.

Olivia was so surprised and of course the snowflakes were her favorite part!  I think it’s safe to say she likes it 😉 And mama is happy because it was so easy to decorate with the help of Scotch® Brand Tapes.

Jack’s room was so much fun to transform too!  He is my little dreamer and I found this Believe banner from target and new it was perfect for over his bed. I used the Scotch® Wall-Safe Tape to hang it. Even on our flat paint, no peel off when I pulled back on the tape!

I also picked out some Christmas books for his shelves and an adorable gingerbread banner from Glitter party Co to dress it up a little!

Jack’s reaction to his room was priceless!  He quite literally jumped for joy 😉  I love seeing them so happy and making the holiday season special for them.  I also love that I don’t have to put any holes in my wall or damage the paint to create their own little winter wonderlands!

Gift Wrapping with the kiddos!

*products gifted by Scotch 3M, but all opinions are my own*

Every year when I pull out the wrapping paper and bows and turn our kitchen island into the North Pole wrapping station the kids are always climbing up to see what is going on.  This year, I thought it would be fun to let them wrap (with a little help) their own gifts for their cousins!  I wanted it to be their own ideas so I let them pick out the trimmings and paper! Olivia picked the tinsel and Jack just had to have the gold ball Christmas ornaments (don't worry, they are plastic).  I wrote their cousin's names on them to use as gift tags and we got busy wrapping.  Neither of them are what you would call scissor certified so I had to handle that, but they were a big help holding the paper steady and of course the tape dispenser.  Scotch giftwrap tape is a must when we are wrapping.  I love that is practically disappears after you apply it so it gives a neat, seamless look, even if the edges are being tucked in by a 3 and 5 year old ;)

We used the Super-Hold Scotch tape to adhere the bows they made to the top of the gifts.  Olivia's bows was extra large and even with the weight of the ornament the tape held tight.

This time of year for me is about soaking up as much family time as we can and I love products that make it easy for us to get the job done right the first time! My little cuties were so proud of their presents and even if they aren't the fanciest gifts under the tree they will be the most special to me since we wrapped them together!

Halloween Snack time featuring Boden Clothing

October is in full swing and that means lots of fun, festive snacks and spooky outfits!  Because if you are gonna make a ooey-gooey snack you need to look good doing it!

Boden clothing has been a favorite of mine since I had Olivia.  I love their unique style and you cannot beat the amazing quality.  Bonus for mom - their clothing is machine washable and all the mamas say amen!  I also love that they come up with the cutest holiday line and this years Halloween collection is to die for ;) Jack is obsessed with dragons (he is even dressing up like one for Hallowen!) and when I saw this dragon applique shirt I knew it would be perfect for him.  Olivia and her love of kitties inspired me to pick this darling Kitty Pinafore for her.

Olivia - Cable Footless Tights   Jack - Cord Pants

Boden has you covered from head to toe with the most adorable and durable shoes to match their outfits.  Olivia picked out these Glitter boots that I kinda wish were in my size and Jack went classic with the cutest Blue Suede shoes!

Now for the tasty treats!
We are a candy corn loving bunch so we made these super adorable candy corn shaped rice krispie treats.  The recipe is pretty simple and there are a few layers so it is perfect for little helping sticky hands to help with.

What you'll need:

Yellow Ring:
5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
6 cups marshmallows
4 tablespoons butter
yellow food coloring

Orange Ring:
3 cups rice krispies cereal
4 cups marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter
orange food coloring
(or red and yellow food coloring)

White Ring:
2 cups rice Krispies cereal
2 1/2 cups marshmallows
2 tablespoons butter

non stick spray and or butter for hands and utensils
2 large bowls (one microwave safe), 2 round cake pans, 2 rubber spatulas

Directions:

*Spray cake pans with non stick spray and set aside.
*Starting with the ingredients for the yellow ring, add marshmallows and butter in a microwave safe bowl for 3 minutes or until the butter is melted and the marshmallows are puffed up (watch it closely so it doesn't overflow).
*Remove from microwave and stir completely to mix.  Add in yellow food coloring (I added 15 drops) You want the mixture to be a bold color so it coats the cereal enough to turn it yellow.
* Pour marshmallow mixture over cereal and stir with non stick spray coated spatula.
*Using your hands (coated in butter or non stick spray) mold half the mixture into a ring around the outside of the cake pan then repeat on the second pan.
* Repeat the steps for the orange ring and the white ring until you have a candy corn bullseye!
* Let each pan cool completely (20-30 minutes) then flip rice krsipie treats over on a cutting board, tap the cake pan to release them onto the cutting board
* Use a sharp knife to cut in half, then quarters, then cut each quarter in half

The kids and I had so much fun making these cute treats and even more fun eating them!  A tasty dessert and cute outfit always make the holidays more fun! You can check out the whole Spooky Halloween Shop here by Boden and I'm sure they will have something for your little witches and goblins! Boden encourages kids to be whoever they want to be and Halloween is such a fun time to let their little personality shine!

Happy October friends! Hope you love these treats and outfits as much as we do!

Small Shop Faves

Happy October friends!  If you need us we will be snuggled up in allll the buffalo plaid blankets, watching Hocus Pocus on repeat and sipping anything besides pumpkin spice ;)  And pretending it's not still in the 80's here in good ole Bama.  This is the kick off of the holiday season for us and that means decking out the house and the kiddos in all the festive goodness.  I love supporting small shops and the mamas behind the business so I thought I would round up some of my favorites and share with y 'all!
First let's talk bows.  A girl can never have too many accessories right?  I get asked a lot about my favorite bow shops so in no particular order here they are!

Ellia May Designs - Always have the most fun holiday bows in tons of prints and patterns!

Lulebloom - Darling felt flower bows and she also does specialty items like the little witch hat Olivia is wearing above!

Zozu Baby - Super cute festive bows for every season and she also has the cutest bow socks! Olivia is wearing the mustard ones from last year above!  And you guys, she makes scrunchies! Nuf' said

Cute Bird Kids - I cannot say enough about these beautiful bows. Always classic, the prettiest prints and the quality cannot be beat.  We are obsessed with her headbands too! They have wire to keep the bow nice and fluffy and you can even adjust where the bow sits on the band!

Labelle Baby Bows - The most lovely velvets you have ever seen! She also has vintage prints that are just the sweetest!

Now that you have a few a million choices for bows let's talk festive screen print shirts!  HEN & CO always delivers in the cute shirt department. The Hocus Pocus shirt Olivia is wearing above is from a couple of years ago, but she has a great collection this year too!  Also check out The Ever Co . Their Hey Boo shirts are so stinking cute!  They both have options for boys and girls!

Speaking of gear for the boys and girls, I just ordered the cutest rain boots for both babes from London Littles  They have so many prints available, but I couldn't resist the black and even better that they work for Olivia AND Jack because if I ever have the chance to twin them you know I'm gonna!

The kids always get the goodies first. Their playhouse was the first thing to get a spooky makeover and it may be my favorite "costume" it has had yet!  Glitter Party Co is our go-to for all things festive and holiday!  She made the adorable felt garland and Hocus Pocus banner.  The "hey Boo" sign is from Opal Plus Olive  The letters are actual wood cut outs and I love the whimsy fun it adds!

Hope you enjoy these goodies as much as we have!  Happy shopping :)

31 Days of Halloween Books!

Oh hey, me again! It's been a few months, but fall is finally here and that means the official start to the holiday season in the Pearson house!  One of my favorite things to do is bust out the festive jammies and books for the kids.  I love seeing how excited they get. Can we all agree holidays with kids are just so much stinking fun?!!!
Olivia's little witch hat is from Lulebloom!
We have had these picture ledges that we use as book shelves in both of the kid's rooms since they were babies and I love having a fun place to display all of their books for the season.  They enjoy having new books every few months and I think they like that they can look up there and pick out which ever one they want to read.  All of our festive garlands come from Glitter Party Co!  She makes the absolute cutest décor!

We have more Halloween books around here than any other season...maybe because they are my favorite ;) I thought it would be fun to do a little book countdown to Halloween so without further rambling from me, here are our faves!
1. Ghosts
21. Dracula
27. Boo!
Grab your babes and your favorite spooky-fun book and make some memories!  Which books are your faves?!

New smile with Smile Direct Club

I want to talk to you guys about something that I have been wanting to do forever, straighten my smile!  I had braces when I was in junior high, but shortly after that I lost my retainer and as I got older my teeth began to shift.  I really didn't want to wear braces again and that's when I discovered Smile Direct Club.  They offer invisible aligners to straighten your smile and you can do the whole thing from home.  I ordered my at-home-impression kit and even though I was afraid I might mess it up at first, the directions were great and it was so easy to do. Not to mention, playing in the putty was pretty fun ;)  You mail it straight back to them, along with some pictures and they send you a virtual journey to your new smile so you can check out exactly what your teeth will look like at the end of the treatment.  You can use code POSITIVELYPEARSON  for 50 % off your at home impression kit! Click here to get started!

Once the doctors have created your aligners you get a kit that looks like this in the mail.  It has all of your aligners in it along with some fun freebies!  No kidding, the chapstick they send is my favorite of all time!  They also send a storage case for your aligners and some helpful tools to get them situated in your mouth correctly and to help get them out (which can be tricky when you are first getting started).  They also include whitening gel pens so not only will your teeth be perfectly straight, but also sparkling white!  They also send you emails when you need to switch your aligners to a new set.  The support team is always super friendly and helpful if you need anything as well.

I am a little over half way through my treatment now and I can already tell a big difference.  Not just in the way that my teeth look, but also the way I bite down and chew.  You need to wear your aligners as much as possible, but take them out when eating or drinking anything besides water. That took some time to get used to, but the trade off of not having metal in my mouth all the time was well worth it.

Here is a before I started treatment picture and you can see how my teeth have shifted out of line since braces.  I don't do selfies alone so thanks to my bud Courtney on the left for being in the pic with me ;)

This picture was taken just a week ago half way through my treatment.  I can't believe how much they have changed and I still have a couple of months to go.

My whole treatment is for 5 months. Treatment time is based on the severity of your teeth and how often you wear your aligners.  I have been so pleased with my experience so far and highly recommend Smile Direct Club if you are thinking about braces or aligners.  I will be sure to update you guys at the end of my treatment with all of the befores and afters!
