(aka a massive photo dump)
You guys, it's Halloween!!!
I'm not sure how this month flew by faster than the rest, but here we are on one of my most favorite days of the whole year!!!
I cannot wait to dress my kiddos up and take them trick or treating and eat all of their candy , but first here is a little recap of the last couple of weeks.
We went to boo at the zoo and Olivia insisted on being a zebra and picked out her outfit from head to toe.  I could not pass up this panda bear for Jack to match her!

Olivia and I went to Disney on Ice with our besties Jennifer and Emma and the girls had a ball!  It was Olivia's first time to go and she was captivated to say the least.  Her little princess heart isn't going to know what to do at Disney World in a couple of weeks.
She insisted on being Rapunzel and told me I could be Mother Gothel, thanks a lot ;)

Last weekend we took a girl's trip to Nashville for Allie Kate's birthday.  We went to the American Girl Doll store and let Allie pick out a doll for her birthday.  We had lunch in the cafĂ© and it was so stinking cute.  From the dolls the girls got to borrow to sit with them while they ate to the cake and ice cream, everything was super girly and super fun.  We stayed the night at the Opryland Hotel which is huge by the way and so pretty.  The girls loved the indoor pool (before we discovered the poop floating in it.  Wish I was kidding) and the hot tub (where we migrated after said poop incident).  It was a whirlwind trip, but I am so glad we got to go and celebrate sweet Allie Kate turning seven.  She was the first baby girl to steal a piece of my heart and I can't believe how fast she is growing up.  I am a proud aunt for sure!

October is not complete without our annual Halloween brunch!  This year I made homemade candy apples (which where the messiest, most delicious things ever), sausage crescents, chocolate muffins, white chocolate popcorn mix (recipe below) all served with fresh fruit and spiders ;)
The mamas got mimosas because when you are partying with 12 children you deserve a mimosa or three

The whole crew! Minus Emma who wasn't feeling the photography and Jack because he was of course, sleeping ;)

I love to make this mix for pretty much every holiday.  This time I used this recipe:
2 bags simply salted popcorn (remove the unpopped kernels)
3 cups of pretzels
2 cups of candy corn
1 half a block of white almond bark
Pop popcorn and let cool, melt almond bark in microwave safe bowl
in a large bowl mix all ingredients together until everything is coated with almond bark chocolate
Spread out onto parchment paper and allow to cool and harden, ENJOY!
This stuff is like crack, you have been warned ;)

I hope you all have a fabulous Halloween, trick or treat until you drop and eat waaayyyy too much candy!  Happiest and scariest Monday witches!

Farm Fun

Last weekend we let Jack skip his morning nap and took a trip to 4D Farms.  That place is like fall perfection.  Pony rides, hay slides, corn mazes and pig races, they have it all!  We me my sis and her family and let the kids play until they couldn't hang any more.
I have to say it, what is up with this weather?  It is still in the upper 80's and not a drop of rain in years weeks.  Come on fall and happen already!  Despite the heat and the incredible amount of dust we inhaled, fun was had by all!

Jack loved chasing the goats.  He loves every animal he sees.  No fear in this one at all.

We even rode some cows...

Olivia's face in this picture says it all!  Staring straight into the sun, but having the time of her life haha!
We left sweaty, covered in dirt head to toe, exhausted and oh so happy.

If you are in the central/north Alabama area you have to check this place out!
Gearing up for some Boo at the Zoo this weekend.  And working on second Halloween costumes since Olivia insists on being something different every. single. day.
Yay fall and opinionated children ;)

Big Girl Status

Olivia has been asking for ear rings for a few months now.  I never really set an age limit on when she could get them pierced.  I just always said when she was ready and really wanted them.  My mama heart kinda thought that would be older than three.  I know, I'm a little nuts.  I mean, lots of babies have their ears pierced and it isn't that big of a deal.  To me though, it is just her asserting her independence in another way.  At 3 years and 4 months old Olivia is growing up and changing right before my eyes.  She is so strong willed and while that is very challenging at times now, I know that she will be such an amazing woman someday.  She knows exactly what she wants, whether it be what dress she picks out for school, who she wants to play with or what song I am allowed to sing her before bed.  She has always been obsessed with Jack, but as he is getting bigger she is treating him differently lately, more like her friend and less like a baby.  She talks to him like she would her cousins or friends.  Yesterday while I was cooking dinner, she took him by the hand and pulled him over to the rug and asked him if he wanted to play ponies with her.  She picked him out a few and gave them to him telling him their names and what they liked to do.  Jack totally went along with it, smiling and just happy she was handing him toys instead of taking them away.  My heart just melts when I see them playing so sweetly together.  She now asks me to take her picture and poses for me.  She loves school and comes home talking about new friends all the time.  She is learning about Jesus at school and wants to tell me about her bible stories which makes me so very proud and I know that I made the right decision sending her to school this year.  She loves reading, changing her clothes 17 times a day and sleeping in her favorite twirl dresses instead of pajamas.  So ear rings were just another reminder that my baby girl has a mind of her own and some serious style.  She picked out pink sparkly flowers for her piercing ear rings.  She was so brave and sat in the chair all by herself.  There were a few tears right when they did it, she later told me the loud click in her ears was scary haha.  She could not wait to show them off, especially to her cousin and bestie Ava.
We celebrated with some chips and cheese dip with brother and Nana.
I am just so proud of this beautiful little girl.  She is growing up too fast, but she still wants me to sing to her and rub her hair before bed so I soak up every minute she still needs me.

I have to admit, they look pretty cute on her.  She looks way older, but so pretty.  The best thing is how much she loves them and how big she thinks she is now.  Just don't grow up too fast now baby girl!

Pumpkin Patchin'

It has been well, forever since I blogged so I have a ton to catch up on.  First of all, we are in full fall mode, even though the temperatures remain in the 80's and above  most days.  Our porch is littered with pumpkins and there may or may not be a flock of bats surrounding our tv.  The best thing about fall is all of the fun activities to do. A couple of weekends ago Olivia danced at the fall carnival and we stayed for some pony rides, which has become her favorite thing to do.  She thinks that anywhere we go she gets to ride a pony, even Target ;)
I cannot get over how cute these tiny dancers are. Even if one of them did throw a major tantrum when I made her wear tights (my child).  Oh the horror of covering your legs and feet.

The next day she danced again at the Great Dust Bowl  Pumpkin Patch.  It seriously has not rained in 4 weeks and it was crazy dusty and windy that day!

Jack didn't mind the dust and dirt at all.  He took the first opportunity he got to rub his slobbery hands in and made a nice big mess.

We have been keeping things festive on the home front too!  Fun pumpkin muffin breakfasts, nature walks and scavenger hunts have kept us pretty busy.

We have been to the park a lot lately too, mostly in the mornings before it gets too hot.  Anything to get these crazy kids outside and burn off some energy.

Seriously, these two keep me hopping, but I love every minute of it!  I know this was totally random and pretty much just a big photo dump, but I had so much to catch up on!
Happy hump day friends!
