Five on Friday

We have had a really exciting week around here.  The kids are tucked away in bed and I am just now getting around to sharing our Friday Favorites.  Better late than never, right?

one.  Olivia started 3K preschool this week and I was way less emotional than I thought I would be.  Girlfriend has done amazing and I could not be a prouder mama.  She is a little shy when I walk her in, but no tears so I consider that a win.  She is so excited to see me when I come to pick her up and tells me how happy she is and how much fun she had.  I know now that we definitely made the right decision sending her this year.  I made this 3K banner and it was super easy and affordable.  I will do a tutorial later with links to where I got the supplies.

two.  Dance class also started back this week.  Olivia has grown leaps and bounds (see what I did there? never miss an opportunity for a good pun) since last year.  The biggest thing is just her coming out of her shell in front of others.  She pranced right into class and did her thing with no nerves and she had a blast!  Also, the leotard she is wearing is from one of our favorite shops Alice and Ames.  This is where I get all of Olivia's awesome twirl dresses.  Enter code BYESUMMER for an extra 20 percent off your purchase through this weekend!

three.  I found the most amazing bedding on major sale at Anthropologie. It is super soft and oh so pretty.  Are you noticing the polka dotted theme yet? ;)

four.  I just started drinking coffee about a month ago, I know crazy right??  So imagine my excitement when I was perusing through target and spotted this cutie.  Give me ALL the polka dots!  Now that I am an official coffee drinker, well cream with a little bit of coffee ;) I need your favorite coffee drinks please!

five.  Jack got his first hair cut and dude is not a fan.  I would have never imagined this experience would be so traumatic.  He started crying immediately when I sat him in the chair so I tried holding him to calm him down to no avail.  It ended with him in a headlock, lots of tears and both of us covered in hair, but he looks so cute and so much older.  Why do they have to grow so fast???
Sis tried to make him feel better, but he was having none of it.  And yep, more dots on Olivia's Free Babes bow.

six. Ok I lied, I have six things to share this week ;)  The temperature finally dropped below 90 degrees so we headed outside for a little dinner al fresco with some sweet friends.  Frozen pizza, french fries, homemade ranch and watermelon on paper plates please.  The best part is the easy clean up!  Oh, did you notice the bowls?  Can't stop, won't stop!  If you are as polka dot crazy as I am and I realize probably no one is Target has a promo for 10 percent off through the weekend with code 48HOURS

There you have it!  Hope you all have the best weekend and click here to check out the other Five on Friday posts :)

I leave you with these cuties keepin it real in Target.  Sometimes I just want to twirl down the isles of Target too baby girl.  Except I want to do it alone, with coffee, no, wine in hand!  Cheers to the weekend!

Five on Friday!

Do you ever have one of those weeks that slips away so quickly and you can't quite remember how it got to be Friday?  That is totally me today.  I had to look back at pictures on my phone to see what we have even been up to, because you know I take pictures of everything.  I am going to blame it on lack of sleep.  Both kiddos have been waking up through the night for unknown reasons, but it has me in total zombie mode, that and staying up way past this mama's bedtime watching the Olympics all week. Which brings be to number ONE on this Five on Friday!

one. We have been totally Olympics obsessed over here.  Gymnastics and swimming have to be our favorites with beach volleyball coming in at bronze ;)  But seriously, three kids and Kerri Walsh Jennings looks like a beach goddess!  My sister and I used to pretend we were Olympic gymnast in our living room.  We would vault off of the couch and we could strike that arms in the air pose like no other.  Watching it takes me back to those fun memories every time. So of course I couldn't less this Friday pass by without doing a fun, festive breakfast in full team USA spirit!

two. We have had such a rainy, dreary week here that we have had to take advantage of any breaks in the rain to go outside and let the babes run off some energy.  At least the rain did help to cool it off just a bit. I cannot get over what a little monkey Jack is.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised since Olivia was and still is climbing on everything.  I absolutely love watching them play together.  Olivia is pretty gently most of the time and always wants to hold his hand and help him do what ever she is doing.  I just love watching their relationship grow.  Siblings are the best.

three. Olivia and I had a girl's night with her cousins and Nana to see the play The Little Mermaid.  I honestly don't know who was more excited, it might have been me ;)  The play was amazing and we had so much fun staying up past her bed time and being with all of the girls.  If it ever comes near you, you must go see it!

four. Olivia is starting preschool next week and I am more than a little emotional about it.  On our weekly Target run we found these fun work books in the dollar section.  I got the Pre-k-k ones, but they come in grade levels up to 3rd.  They are really cute and Olivia loves to color and trace letters, numbers and shapes.  They also give us something to do during Jack's nap time.

five. We were late to the Snow Biz game this year, but we are making up for it! We have been going at least a few times each week.  I love that it can be a quick 30 minute outing when we just need to escape from the house. Not to mention they are delicious!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and don't forget to click here to check out the other Friday posts!

I leave you with a happy babe to kick off the weekend!

Family Beach Vacay

Our big family beach trip is always a highlight of the summer.  The kids are so excited to have unlimited cousin time and hours of fun in the sun. And they may even get to skip a few naps here and there gasp! Olivia is at such a fun age for beach trips right now.  She loves the ocean, building sand castles and jumping waves is this girl's jam.  I am pleased to report that beach time with Jack being able to walk was so much better than when he was crawling.  He still shoveled sand into his mouth like he had never eaten before, but he did so with a smile on his face.  The water was so beautiful.  It made me feel like we were in the Caribbean or somewhere other than the Gulf .  We had the best week!
Major photo dump about to commence:

My favorite night of the trip was our crab hunting adventure.  We all strapped on head band flash lights and took the kids down to the ocean to find crabs.  My savage of a husband grabbed a huge one with his bare hands which resulted in lots of high pitched screams from the girls.

We take a group photo every year with my sis and her kids.  Our little group keeps on growing bigger and this was the first year in four years that one of us wasn't preggo for the picture.  I just love all of our sweet babies!

It was sad to leave the beach this year because it means summer is almost over.  While I will not be missing this heat one bit, our days are about to get busier with Olivia starting preschool and our schedule free days are over.  Fall is the best though and there are so many wonderful things to look forward to coming up!  Farewell sweet summer time!

Five on Friday

It has been a while since I did a Friday post and today I am linking up with some fabulous mamas for Five on Friday!  Summer is quickly dwindling to an end and I cannot say I will miss this sweltering heat - bye Felicia. I am having mixed feelings though since Olivia starts preschool in less than two weeks. We are doing all that we can to soak up this last bit of summer. Starting with a fun FriYAY breakfast, because who doesn't love bacon??

one. A lot of schools in our area have already started back so that means that local attractions aren't as crowded any more.  We had the best time at the splash pad with some friends yesterday and I hope we can squeeze in a couple more visits soon. My kids were pumped when we pulled up and the ice cream truck was just sitting there parked by the fence.  I see what you're doing there Mr. Ice Cream Man, well played sir.

two.  Olivia attended her first ever vacation bible school this week and she had the best time.  The theme was Walk This Way and they taught the children about how to have a closer walk with Jesus.  I know Olivia is only three, but I love that little seeds are being planted in her heart now.  They raised money for an organization that really touched my heart.  It is called Happy Feet Missions.  They go into villages where men, women and children need shoes, wash their feet and provide them with a pair of shoes all while sharing the gospel of Jesus with them.  At the end of the last night's service everyone was urged to donate the shoes off of their feet and Olivia begrudgingly  gave up a pair of Minnie shoes that she loves.  I hope they make another little girl very happy :)  I am guilty of wanting more, more, more and I want to always remember to teach my children the importance of giving to others.  You can click the link above to check this charity out for yourself.

three.  Speaking of shoes, is there anything more fun than shoe twinning with your babe??  Olivia thought it was so cool that we got to match.  I love these Jessica Simpson flats, not only are they cute but super comfortable as well.  Olivia's are from Gap last year (I bought a size up for this fall and hoarded them).  You can matching ones for your mini here.

four.  I ordered a Gathre mat at the begging of summer and we use it all the time, at the beach, at the splash pad, in the back yard, at the park.  They come in lots of sizes, shapes and colors.  They fold up pretty compact and they are super easy to clean.  I wipe it down with a wet cloth and we have had everything from pizza to watermelon juice come right off.  I also left it out in a torrential rain pour and it didn't affect it one bit ;)  If you have kids and don't have one, you need one!

five.  We have played with side walk chalk since Olivia was old enough to not eat it, but we have never had any side walk paint until recently.  It is so cool!  I love that you can mix the colors and create your own and all kids love to make a mess with paints.  Olivia got this set for her birthday and it has been a big hit.  The roller brush is her favorite part.  Clearly mommy needs a few art classes, but little miss thought I did a great job, that's all that matters!
