What a Weekend!

We are getting geared up for summer around here.  Warmer weather means lots of time outside and fun stuff to do!  Friday totally counts as the weekend for us and we usually have some sort of fun play date planned.  Last Friday we went to the zoo with our friends Katie, Ritter and the rest of the residents of the Birmingham area.  It was packed out, but we had a great time.  Olivia is still a little skittish around Ritter, but she wasn't too shy when he was holding the fish food ;)  The petting zoo and train ride remain favorites along with the monkey exhibits.  Our last trip Olivia begged to ride the camel only to freak out when the worker picked her up to put her on the camel and she wouldn't ride.  I was skeptical to but tickets again thinking she would probably do the same thing, but she was brave and rode like a big girl.  Poor Jack was passed out in the Ergo by this point.  He would have thought it was so cool, had he been awake and aware he was riding a camel.

Saturday we worked in the yard.  And by we I mean Chad worked and the kids and I played in the little pool and drew with side walk chalk.  Olivia did get in on some of the mulch spreading action a little later.  She has her very own wagon, shovel and rake and she was so proud of herself for helping.  She is going through a phase (gosh, I hope it's just a phase) where she is fighting me so hard on everything she wears.  It has to be a dress, pink, twirly and she prefers it have a tutu skirt.  She only let me put her hair up in pig tails because I told her she couldn't go outside without them haha!  She wants her hair down like Rapunzel all the time.  She's pretty cute though so I guess I can handle the sass for now.
Saturday evening I took Olivia as my date to a close family friend's wedding.  The cousins were there and these little girls had the best time.  The wedding and reception was in a big open field and they ran, played and danced their little hearts out.  We stayed up waaayyyy past our bed time, but it was totally worth it to see how happy she was.

Sunday morning was Jack's favorite part of the weekend.  He got chocolate chip muffins for the first time and he wasn't shy about letting me know he loved them!  Poor buddy has been teething so bad lately. He pretty much has to be held or he comes and sits right on my feet and pulls on my legs.

We went to church and then Olivia and I headed out to a birthday party for one of her dance friends.  They have the best back yard ever.  Lots of big trees for shade, lots of room to run around and play and even zip lines!  How cool is that?  I thought Olivia would be scared, but she hung on and had the biggest smile the whole time.  She even did the big one for the adults.  It was such a fun party!

Dinner at Nana's and another night of late bedtimes.  Jack slept all the way through the night until 7am this morning.  He must have known mommy needed some sleep.  We are booked solid for the next few weekends and I can't wait!  Dance recital, beach, lake, summer here we come!

Jack 10 Months

This age is the best.  I seriously wish I could freeze time right now.  Jack is so happy and so sweet my heart almost cannot take it.  He is always smiling and laughing.  He loves everyone, especially his mommy.  I am just so thankful for this chubby little chunk!

New tricks:
His new favorite word is uh-oh and he says it all the time.  He loves to say it riding down the road in the car, to which Olivia responds with "spaghettio" and we all laugh at the cuteness.
He waves bye-bye with his fist closed.  Chad says he looks like he is rooting on his team.
The walker is finally interesting him.  He will push it and walk behind for a go 10 or 20 steps then reverts to his insanely fast tarzan crawl to get where he needs to go.  I am so ready for him to be walking. It will make trips to the park and everywhere outside so much more enjoyable.  Poor guy is stuck strapped to me until then.

We had to put the gate up to the upstairs because I heard Olivia scream only to walk over and find him 5 steps up (whoops).  He just grinned at me so proud of himself.  I guess he is going to be a monkey like big sis.
He loves to climb up and jump on Olivia's little trampoline.  He thinks he is such a big boy when he is up there.

His fake, dolphin sounding laugh owns me.  He and Olivia go back and forth fake laughing.  One of them will randomly let out a giggle and the other has to play along.  I love their sweet, fun relationship.
He dances and claps whenever we turn the music up now.  All this time watching me and Olivia break it down is paying off.  Soon he will be a dancing fool just like us.

Total of 6 teeth, but I'm expecting more very soon if the river of slobber down his shirt is any indicator.  He has been a little grumpier than usual lately and chewing so hard on everything (except the $30 Sophie the giraffe, go figure)  His favorite thing to chew is Olivia's mini Melissa shoes.  Those things do smell pretty good.

Big sister is the coolest to him.  He wants to do everything she does and play with all of her stuff.  She isn't much into the sharing thing so this doesn't go so smoothly all the time, but she will always give him one of his own toys as she is ripping whatever of hers he has from his hands. Could be worse, I guess ;)

The food situation is pretty good right now.  He eats everything, including baby food.  It comes in handy to be able to feed him that if we are having something really messy or too spicy for him.  He loves fruit and any kind of carb best, but he will eat anything I put on his tray.
On the not so favorite list are diaper changes, clothing changes and really any situation that requires him to lay down and be still.  He fusses every single time I wipe his hands and face after he eats and the whole time he is being changed.  He squirrels around like a wild animal and sometimes makes a huge mess.

Still a great napper taking 2 2/3 hour naps a day and bedtime is around 7:30.  He usually wakes up around 3am for a bottle then back to sleep until 7:30 or 8 so I can't complain.  Every once in a while he is sleep all the way through and I want to throw a party with margaritas for everyone but then he's up the next night.  I'm not stressing about it though, one day I will get some real rest again.

This little boy brings us so much joy.  I sit and stare at him as I am feeding him (the only time he is still) and I am in awe of what a beautiful little person he is.  I feel exceptionally blessed to be his mommy and I love him more than words could ever express.  I cannot believe in two months he will be one year old.  Time is flying by.  I am doing my best to be present and treasure even the little moments when we are just at home hanging out because I know once they are gone, they are the ones I will miss the most.
Happy 10 months my little Jack-o-bean!
