Merry Christmas 2015

Christmas Eve we went to the candle light service at my Mom's church and then ad a family dinner at her house. We hurried home to get the kids all nestled in their beds so we could get to work playing Santa.   I absolutely love setting up their presents and getting everything ready for them in the morning.  We decided to only set a few things out from Santa and have the rest wrapped from us (not that either of them know the difference right now).  I was so excited I could hardly wait until morning!

Olivia woke up in a horrible mood, but was soon over that when she saw all of her goodies. I put her unicorn that she had been asking for behind all of her other presents, but it was the first thing she spotted when she came down stairs.  She climbed on immediately and was beaming with pride. Every time she walked past it she would kiss and hug it and say "I love my lunitorn"

Little creature of habit then demanded her cereal and juice so we took a break and got the essentials then started tearing into the goodies.  She was so excited with each gift.  It was the sweetest thing.  I think we opened presents for over an hour!

Jack hung out and was his happy little self. Olivia and I opened his presents for him and she would take them over and show him what he got, so sweet.  He only made it half way through present opening and he got sleepy and went down for his morning nap.

After we finished opening presents and Jack woke up from his nap we headed to Nana's for brunch and more presents!  I managed to get one group shot of all of us.  I love my family so much and I am so blessed to have them in my life.  I am reminded more of this during the holiday season just how blessed  we are.

The weather was a balmy 78 degrees and we finished out the evening with tornado warnings.  Not your typical Christmas Day, but we were all safe thank goodness.  The day after Christmas we visited my Dad's side of the family.  The kids were pretty wild after a few days of being off their schedule.  We tried to get a group picture that we do every year and this is the best we could come up with..

and real life craziness...

This Christmas was so much fun and I can only imagine it getting better as Olivia and Jack get older.  Chad snapped this picture of Olivia and me in the midst of our own tornado of a mess and I was reminded of this quote "The most glorious messes in the world is the one made in the living room on Christmas morning"  It couldn't be more true.

I am sad to see this Christmas go, but I will always have this picture of my little jolly fella to make me smile ;)

He had a broad face and a round little belly, that shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly,
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Twas the week before Christmas

We kicked off the week before Christmas with our annual Henley family Christmas party.  The girls have so much fun running around with each other.  Sweet little Huddy will be so happy when Jack and baby Mason can play with him.  Best picture we could get of all the littles.

Chad saved up some vacation and was able to spend the whole week before Christmas home with us.  It was so nice having him home to get some extra quality time in during the hustle and bustle of this season.  We spent most of the week lounging in our jammies and really just enjoying daddy being home.

Olivia and I left the boys at home for a lunch date Nana, Ashley and her kiddos at Brio.  It took entirely too long and all 4 kids were ready to fly the coop, but we got some cute photos by the fountain after lunch.  Nana and I took the three girls over to the mall to do some last minute Christmas shopping.  They were beyond wild and we made it a short trip ;)  But they sure are cute!

I love getting to spend one on one time with my sweet girl and really cherish these moments now that I have two babes to divide my attention with.  Olivia comes with me to the grocery store and to run errands all the time.  She is my little best friend and a pretty good little shopping buddy.  Nothing left  to do but celebrate Christ's birthday!

Jack Emmett 5 Months Old

I cannot believe I have let so much time slip away since I did an update on my sweet baby boy!
This child is such a joy.  He is always smiling and laughing and never meets a stranger.  The only sad thing is how fast he is growing! So here is an update on my big 5 month old!

Jack is 26.5 inches long (90th for height) and 17 pounds (only 80th for weight, big boy is sliming up haha).  He is in a size 3 diaper already and wears 6/12m and even some 12/18 months in clothes.  I seriously cannot believe how big he is or how fast he is growing.   I miss the tiny baby stage already!

I know I brag all the time, but he really is the best baby ever.  He is so laid back and just so easy to manage all the time.  He might get a little fussy if he is hungry or sleepy, but even that isn't bad and as soon as he is appeased it is back to happy, sweet baby Jack.  He smiles and laughs every single time he sees me or hears my voice.  I cannot even express how in love I am with this little dude.

Sleep is a work in progress right now.  Bed time is around 7:30 and he was sleeping all the way to 7am, but then teething started and he wakes up once or twice a night now.  Sometimes it is more like 4 or 5 times and those nights aren't much fun.  He always just eats and goes right back to sleep though.  He takes 3 good naps a day, usually around 2 hours a piece.  This kid will sleep anywhere and through anything, thanks big sis ;)  We are on the go a lot and he naps happily snuggled in the carrier or even in his car seat, which Olivia never did.

I guess he is going to be an over achiever in the teething department like Olivia.  He cut his first two bottom teeth at 4 months and it trying to get the two laterals on each side right now.  His favorite teething toy has to be his feet.  He gnaws on that big toe until it is red and dripping with slobber.  He also sucks his thumb (aaahhhhhh - no) Only at bed or nap time, but he does it.

This kid loves to be on his tummy.  I can lay him in the floor and before I even take my hand away he is trying to flip over.  Olivia always hated it so this is shocking to me.  He will roll over and nap on his tummy too when I lay him down for naps.  At night he is in a sleep sack and can't get himself turned over quite yet.  I am afraid this means he is going to be mobile early.  He is super interested in what is going on around him and will roll himself across the floor to get a toy or something he wants.

He is a total Mama's boy and I love it.  It doesn't matter who is holding him if he hears me talking he will about break his neck to see me and when he does he laughs and loses control of himself, it is the cutest thing.  He is just such a content baby.  He will chill with me watching tv or even in his bouncy seat while I get ready or cook dinner as long as he can see me he is good.

As much as he loves me, he is obsessed with Olivia.  And she loves him just as much.  I cannot even express how amazing it is watching my babies love each other so much.  He loves it when she sings to him and even when she is on top of him smothering him with kisses he is still grinning ear to ear.  If she is ever not attacking him with affection he is cooing and trying to get her attention.  Whenever he wakes up from a nap and she hears him first she runs as fast as she can up the stairs, scales his crib and is laying beside him loving on him before I can even get to the top of the stairs.  Olivia helps me so much with him too.  Bringing me diapers or finding his paci, she loves being the big sister.  I am so blessed to get to watch these two grow up together.

To my precious baby boy:
Jack, you are such a sweet little soul and I am just so thankful every day that I get to be your Mommy.  I look forward to the special relationship we get to have and I will always be your biggest fan.  I know God has big plans for you my sweet boy.  You have stolen my heart and everyone who meets you falls in love with you in an instant.  Thank you for completing our family and being the best baby in the whole world!  I love you to pieces!

ps. sorry about the toddler in baby attack mode...I have a feeling you will get her back soon ;)

December Days

This truly is the most wonderful time of the year!  Seeing all of the Christmas fun through Olivia's eyes is making my little Christmas heart swell with joy.  This is the first year she has really been able to understand and get excited.  After two pretty traumatizing experiences we don't utter the "s" word (Santa) in this house.  Girl talked a big game, but screamed bloody murder and clung to me for dear life both times I tried to get her to sit with him.  At least little brother liked him :)

We had a gingerbread house decorating breakfast with a couple of Olivia's besties.  I made cute reindeer waffles and we let the kids make a huge mess trying to decorate the little house.  They loved just playing around the house the most.

I am so thankful for my sweet friends and their baby girls.  I love that Olivia has automatic best friends to grow up with.  I moved around a lot as a child and I never had this opportunity so it means the world to me that my children will have this :)

Our little city Christmas parade has always been a favorite of my holiday events.  It was freezing cold and mom of the year forgot Jack's hat and one of Olivia's mittens in a rush to get out of the house.  We made a pit stop in walgreens and picked up a pair of socks for her to wear on her hands, you do what you gotta do!  I tucked Jack's head into the solly wrap since I was wearing him anyways and we braved the cold.  I managed to snap a few blurry pictures.  Olivia loved the dancers and Jack slept happily for most of the parade snuggled in close to me.  It was a pretty fun night.

I am making an early new years resolution to make myself keep up with my blog better so let's see if I can make it happen with all the Christmas fun we have packed into the next few weeks :)
Until then, here is some Jack cuteness

Sweet November

Ok so November came and went in a blur.  Such is my life lately.  Life with my two babes is never dull.  We have a pretty good routine and I usually get them to nap together in the afternoon, but for some reason I have had zero free time.  Maybe my nap time is spent cleaning up after hurricane Olivia and doing endless piles of laundry.  I failed to blog at all again in November so once again I am going to share a photo dump and try to catch up now that we are half way through December ;)
