Halloween Eve Brunch

Twas the nap before Halloween and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a rubber mouse
The little lady is snuggled all tight in her bed, while visions of skeletons dance in her head
And I in my jammies, the cleaning's all done
Sipping hot chocolate and wathcing re-runs
Blogging and baking, in prep for tomorrow
In hopes that trick-or-treating with a toddler won't be a horror!
There's a chill in the air and I hear rustling of leaves
It is finally here,

I wanted to make this Halloween extra special since it will be the first year Olivia will get to trick or treat.  She is also getting very social and really likes playing with her little friends.  We decided to have a festive pajama
brunch to kick off Halloween.  We had lots of yummy food and drinks complete with a coffee and hot chocolate bar!  I must say, I was in need of a mimosa or 3 after cleaning up the mess, but we had a blast!
I will let the pictures do the talking ;)

All of the kids got along so well and had so much fun playing together. We even got one big group shot somehow...although some of them ain't too happy about it ;)

Love my sweet group of friends and all of their babies.  I am so glad they let me live out my Martha Stewart-ness with them.  (And yes, those are the Olsen Twins in the back ground)

And then there were the decorations!

The spiders are fake but the cobwebs may or may not be real.

The playroom even got a spooky makeover, cause what's a Halloween party without a haunted house??

Pics taken post party - yep, I already cleaned up!

After most of the guest had left Ash and I let the girls paint pumpkins.  The weather was perfect and they did a pretty good job..until Ava decided to eat the glue calling it chapstick.  Sweet cousins!

I love hosting fun events for my friends and family and I try my best to make Olivia's childhood as magical as possible.  She has to grow up someday, but not today!  I live for these smiles.

Happy Halloween Eve from me and my boo!  Can't wait for tomorrow!

Last Weekend

Ok, so I know I only post about our weekends lately, but they have been so much fun I have to document!
Friday night was girls night (whoop).  And what girl's night is complete without some yummy treats?  I made a delicious caramel apple bar and I must say, I felt very pinteresty.

We just chilled at Lindsey's, ate too much food, drank a little too much wine and played Friends scene it, which is always fun!  Love these sweet ladies and the chance to get out of the house and still stay in my pajamas ;)

We are a family that loves to be outside. Chad and I used to go hiking regularly, but we haven't been in a really long time...can't imagine why.  We decided to take Olivia up to Turkey Creek and let her run around on some trails since she loves to be outside and climb everything.

Obviously, we are Alabama fans and it is mandatory to dress your whole family in fan-gear on gameday.
Olivia loved running around in the woods. She was scared of the waterfall, which was cool with me because I didn't have to chase her around on the rocks worrying she was about to fall and die or anything.
I am a little embarrassed to admit that she doesn't own one pair of tennis shoes - shocker, right?
She did just fine in her little suede boots though.  It was so fun to get outdoors as a family and I hope we get to go a few more times before the winter decides to ruin all outside fun for a while.

Fall marks the beginning of snacking season - what, did you not know that was a real thing?
Being out on the trail inspired me to make some yummy baked chex mix. It taste so much better than the bagged stuff and makes your house smell amazing!

I also had some left over white chocolate from the apple bar and could not let that go to waste so I dipped some pretzels, added sprinkles and Boom you have a Halloween treat!
Who's hungry?

After church on Sunday we went to the pumpkin patch.  We didn't go last year because Olivia was still little, so this was her first trip!  There is something magical about riding that hayride out to the field and picking out your own pumpkin.  Or maybe the sweat and dust in my eyes since it was over 80 degrees!
We did find a perfectly shaped pumpkin though and I really hope we have time to carve that baby before Halloween!

This week we are trying to squeeze every last drop of festiveness out of Halloween before it is over!
Happy Halloween Week!

One of my favorite childhood memories is tent making.  My little brother, sister and I used to make the most elaborate tent cities that covered the entire den.  We would sneak in dixie cups of water and goldfish for refreshments and we could play in there all day.  I thought it was time Olivia experienced some of the magic so I brushed off my skills and got to work.  She loved it.  She pretty much just liked running in and out of it, but she squealed and laughed the whole time. These are the moments I hope I never forget.

Saturday my Mom offered us tickets to the Alabama vs. Texas A&M game and to keep Olivia so we could enjoy a game kid free so we jumped on that offer!  I was sad to leave my little munchkin, but I knew she would be in good hands and probably have more fun with her Nana than she does with me ;)

We got to sit in the Zone with lots of free food and drinks!  It was a blowout game, the Tide won 59-0 and that's just the way I like it.  We had a couple of friends with us that we hadn't seen in a while so it was a lot of fun to catch up with them and get to watch a whole football game without sweet little interruptions.  We don't get a whole lot of alone time so I definitely cherished our day date!

Of course, Olivia didn't even miss us.  She would not even come to me when I went to pick her up.  She ran to Nana and told me "no" when I tried to get her!  Can you believe the nerve??  I am glad she loves her Nana though and that they had such a fun day together.

We had to skip church Sunday because someone has a snotty nose, again.  I really hope her little immune system kicks in soon.  She is feelin' fine besides the snot fountain so we decided to keep our date to Boo at the Zoo that night.  We met Brad, Abby and June for some mexican food and then went to the zoo.

June got a new tooth and wanted to share some of Olivia's chips, but I don't think she was into it.  I didn't want Olivia to wear her real costume until Halloween night so I whipped up these kitty ears, put on her kitty tights and vest and boom, you have a kitty!  They were so cute I had to make a head band for little Junie too, the girl loves her some kitties.  Sweet little friends.

Chad insisted we take a picture by the Pirates.  Poor guy has been a good sport this weekend with all of the picture taking I have been doing.  I just have to keep reminding him that we are making memories, he doesn't seem to care sometimes though ;)

The zoo was really fun, even if we didn't get to see any animals.  We enjoyed the haunted hayride and the train most of all!  Fun night with great friends.

We beat the Monday morning blues boo's with some yummy strawberry waffles, in tombstone shapes naturally, pumpkin cuties and boo-berries (never get's old).  I figure, it it the most important meal of the day, might as well be the most fun too.
P.S. Don't judge my art...it tasted fabulous!

Have I mentioned that we weather has been aaahhh-maaazing here lately??  Little kitty and I have been enjoying as much time outside as possible.  We went on a walk today and I let her hold my hand and walk by herself on the big road. She was such a big girl and never even tried to pull her hand away.  She looked up at me with the sweetest little grin, so proud of herself for being so big.  We walked all the way to the end of the road and then momma got to carry both of us uphill home, but it was totally worth it.

Happy Monday friends from my pig-tailed cutie!

Our Weekend

Our weekend was full of fun and of course was gone way too fast!  We kicked off the weekend early with supper club on Thursday night at Lindsey's house.  After the week we had last week it was so nice to get out of the house and have some adult conversation, even if they did mostly involve fictional characters such as vampires and zombies.  We did manage to get the girls together for the obligatory pic.
Love these sweet girls!

Friday night we attempted to go to the fall carnival only to get there and a huge thunderstorm came so we had to leave.  We made a run to the liquor store instead to get some ingredients for some delicious apple cider sangria for Saturday.  The rainy weather called for a family movie night complete with snacks, snuggles and scary movies (Hocus Pocus) ;)

We spent most of the day outside on Saturday grilling and working in the yard with Olivia tagging along.  I made a really yummy apple cider sangria to enjoy while we watched football. We had a couple of friends over and ate waaayyyy too much, but it was such a nice, relaxing day.

Sunday was baby Hudson's baby dedication so we went to church with my family for that.  Olivia lasted approximately 2 minutes in the main service before I had to stand up and hold her waiting for the dedications to begin.  After the ceremony we took Olivia, Ava Grace and Allie Kate to their Sunday School classes.  Olivia and Ava both cried when we handed them over, but we thought they would be ok...not so. I got a text about 10 minutes later to come get Olivia because she was crying.  I got there and she was fine, but poor little Ava was a hot mess.  We got both girls and waited for the service to end out in the hallway, oh well!
That is the first time they have ever called me to get her and I am really hoping it was because she was in a strange place and she doesn't freak out when she gets back to her regular church next weekend ;)

Sunday afternoon we went to Braelynn's birthday party and the girls and mommy had a blast in the inflatables!  The party was really pretty and fun.  We were all a sweaty mess so the rain that came at the end of the party wasn't so bad ;)

The picture below captures the one and only nap that my child took last week.  She has been sick twice in a month and a half and I started rocking her to sleep when she was sick, well that backfired on me last week.  All of a sudden she decided she needed to be held the entire time she was sleeping and if I laid her down she would scream bloody murder until I got her again.  Needless to say, last week was pretty stressful.  I decided to kick back and let her nap on me while I caught up on some DVR'd tv.
One night of not rocking her and laying her down awake (with 5 minutes of crying) cured her from this and she is sleeping great again, I am most happy to report.
In the midst of the craziness I had to remind myself that although I wasn't getting my laundry done or floors cleaned, this little girl wanted me to hold her and not too long from now she won't want me to anymore.
They are only little once, right?

We started the week with a not-so-scary breakfast of mozzarella cheese toast and boo-berries.  Is anyone else's kid obsessed with blueberries?  I think my child would eat them for every meal if I let her.
Anyways, we had a funday Monday with Ash her her kids - I can't say "the girls" anymore ;)
They were so sweet and had lots of fun playing together!

Yep, I included Monday in my weekend cause when you are a stay at home mom, it's all the same anyways!
Looking forward to starting the Halloween festivities this weekend!
Oh and have heard, baby it's cold outside. Happy Monday  Tuesday friends!
