One Year Old

I have a one year old.
How can that be? It seems like just yesterday I was holding her in my arms for the first time.  Those newborn snuggles flew by and I watched my baby learn to sit, crawl, stand, walk and now run circles around me.
This past year has been simply amazing.
I sit here now with such a mix of emotions running through me.  Tears fill my eyes when I think about how fast the first year of her life has passed me by.  I wonder if I did everything I could have to make it as special for her as it has been for me.  I am so blessed to be a mommy to this beautiful little girl.  My heart is so full of love for her it could burst! I want to celebrate her every day and not lose one minute of her being little. I want to always remember the little moments.  I hope I never forget the way she looks up at me with those bright blue eyes filled with such love, the way she rests her little hand on my chest when I am rocking her and the way her tiny fingers feel grasped in mine as we walk side by side.
This has been the best year of my life and I cannot wait to see what the future has for our family!

Happy Birthday my sweet Olivia Jane!

You think you are big stuff now running around all over the place.  Unfortunately, that comes with lots of boo-boos.  I think I should by stock in neosporin.  I absolutely love the way your little fat feet pitter-patter on the hardwood floors throughout the house.  It has to be one of my favorite sounds ever.  You are also a climber...the stairs, in chairs, pretty much anything you can hike your little leg up on.  It gives me a mini heart attack every time you do it, but you really enjoy it so I let you.

I think you are trying to break a record for 1 year old with the most teeth.  You currently have 14, no that is not a typo.  You are working on two more too!  Sleep has been a bit interrupted by this last bout of teething, but I can't blame you. You have been working hard!

Speaking of sleep.  We dropped to one nap a day a couple of weeks ago after you decided that you would no longer go down for your second nap about a month ago.  I tried to make it work, but you definitely have a mind of your own. We adjusted bed time and tweaked the time of the nap and I must say it has worked out pretty well.  You wake up between 8 and 9 and go down for a nap around 1 and sleep anywhere from 2-3 hours and bedtime is around 8-8:30.  I think this is going to work out great for our summer schedule.

You are loving summer so far.  You LOVE the water!  You love to splash, jump, clap your little hands, dip your face in and even just chill in your float.  I knew you had to have a little Mommy in you somewhere ;)  I cannot wait to take you to the beach and watch you in the sand and ocean!

You are starting to talk quite a bit.  You say: Mama, Dada, No (not sure if that is a good thing or not..), Bye-bye, ball, bubble, baby, pretty such anything that starts with a b, haha.  I never realized how many things start with B!  You also love to share your bites with me.  You hold out your fork and I pretend to take a bite and you say "thank you" which sounds more like "tan-eww", but I know what you are trying to say...such good manners!  You love to watch Baby TV and when they sing you sing along and dance and I must say you have some pretty cool moves.  You understand a lot more than you say though.  You love your stuffed animals and baby dolls and you know the difference between your kitty, baby and lambie.  I can tell you to get each one and give it love and you almost always get it right.  You started tying to say "dog" this morning!  I got you a book for your birthday with pictures of all of the animals and you can pick out the dog and say "dddd".

You are eating everything you can get in your little chubby hands these days.  You won't let me feed you any baby food at all and really won't let me feed you my food, you have to do it yourself.  I tried giving you a fork and you did pretty well getting the food to your mouth and mine, but I had to stick it on there for you first.  Meal time is a huge mess.  Oh how I miss the days when I didn't need to sweep and mop after every single meal.  I wouldn't trade your messy cuteness for a minute though :)

I think you have gotten more clingy lately too, shocker right?  You want to be held all the time and I like to hold you so it works out great, until I need to pee or something haha!  You are such a Daddy's girl lately too.  He absolutely adores you and you know it.  You will walk up to him holding your hands up for him to scoop you up saying "da-da-da" and he just melts.  Okay, I might melt a little too.  You are incredibly sweet.

We play peek-a-boo 5 thousand times a day.  Your favorite spot in in your bedroom behind the curtains.  You also like to climb on your chair in there and almost fall crack your head open on the hardwood floor and give me a heart attack.  You think it is really funny to play when you are eating and your hands are disgusting.  You cover up your right eye and stare at me the whole time with the left then jerk the right down and say boo!  This lasts a while and turns every meal into an hour long event.

Books, balls and baby dolls are your favorite toys right now. You love to read.  You like to flip the pages by yourself and also when I read to you. I got you several new books for your Birthday!  You also love to carry big bouncy balls around the house and leave them for mommy to trip on in the middle of the night.  We kick and chase them and you think it is hilarious.  You have started to really love your baby dolls.  You have two soft ones that you drag around everywhere.  You will bury your sweet face in and give them love, it is so sweet!

You are the most amazing blessing that God has ever given to Daddy and me.  You have been loved and prayed for long before we even met you.  From the moment I held you in my arms you have captured my heart.  You are the most beautiful little girl I have ever seen.  You have the most beautiful spirit.  You are so sweet and loving and so spunky and fun at the same time.  Thank you for loving me and letting me be your Mommy.  Thank you for all of the joy and love you bring into our lives.  You are growing up so fast and although that makes me sad in a way, I am so excited to watch you change and learn and to be the one to guide you through this life.  You are so special.  I know that God has big plans for you my little angel.  This past year has been so wonderful and I know that things only get better with you! I love you more than you will ever know my baby girl!

Happy First Birthday Angel Baby!!!
