Memorial Day Weekend

First and foremost I would like to say thank you to all of the brave men and women who give their service and their lives so that we can live in freedom in this great country!

Memorial Day means the start of two things in this family, lake and barbeque!
Olivia was feeling much better from her surgery the day before so we decided to pack up and head to the lake for the weekend as planned.  I pulled out my trusty list that I had made a few days before and began packing...three hours later when everything we owned was crammed in the car we were ready to hit the road!  Even Olivia was excited to see the lake!
This is the face I get when I request a smile now and I kinda dig it ;)

We didn't waste any time getting down to business.  We lathered up with SPF, because a sunburned babe is no fun, and headed to the water!  It was still a little chilly, but it in the blazing heat it felt quite nice.  Olivia was NOT a fan of her life jacket at first.  She screamed bloody murder for a good 5 minutes until we could get her up on a float and get her cheeks wedged out of that thing.  She was pretty content with just floating around after that.  I tried my hand at the yolo board and it was so fun!
The fam :)

After a few minutes of floating fun Olivia and Ava decided they had enough fun and fell asleep!  I was pretty shocked, but she slept for a good 45 minutes.

After their naps we decided to take them on their first boat ride!
Ava was still a little sleepy so Olivia decided to help her wake up a little...

These two little boogers are hilarious together.  They are going to be besties!  Now that Olivia is walking they really interact a whole lot more.  Ava grabs Olivia's hand and tries to take her everywhere with her...unless she wants one of her toys, then it is each little lady for herself!
They enjoyed the boat ride - and the suckers even more, even though poor Libby tries to eat the stick.

My sweet girl feeling the wind in her hair ;)

The next day we filled up the baby pool and let the girls splash around in there.  They had a ball!  I think they prefer the shallow water... or maybe not having a life jacket smothering them.
Love this sweet little face more than words!!
Oh the curls...maybe she is mine after all :)

We took a little family canoe ride.  Olivia loved it.  Poor Chad was stuck doing all of the work.  I was terrified of tipping over the entire time, but it was so fun!

Olivia reunited with her best friend, Maddy - the pup.  She chased her around all weekend and squealed any time she got near her.  By the way, my child is a real life cookie monster...she shovels them in and more goes on the floor than in her mouth, sorry Nana.  Maddy could smell the cookies and let her get close!

We had such a wonderful time just relaxing and spending time with family and friends.
I can't wait to come to the lake more this summer.  We only made it up once last year because Olivia was so little and there wasn't much for her to do.  Sweet summertime is almost here and we are ready for it!

The weekend would not have been perfect without these two.  My whole world is wrapped up in these two very amazing people and I love them more than I ever thought was possible.  I am so blessed and I hope I never take one single day with them for granted.

Happy Memorial Day!  Let the summer fun begin!!!

May Days

Once again another month draws near to the end and I feel like just started.  Sweet summertime is just around the corner and it seems like things are just going to get more fun around here. I wanted to take a minute to document all of the fun we have been having this month!

Olivia and I survived a week alone while Chad was at a work conference. I have to admit I was a total baby the first couple of days.  I cried a few times because I was sad, I know pretty pathetic.  We have never been apart that long and these dang hormones just get the best of me sometimes.  At least I had my little lady to keep me so busy I didn't have time to think company.  We stayed busy visiting Nana and Aunt Ash and her girls pretty much every day, haha.  Chad's flight got in early on Friday and we celebrated with a little family lunch at Panera Bread and a trip to the park to let little miss enjoy the swings.

Reunited and it feels so goooood!!!
Side note...Olivia got her first (and second) black eye within a couple of days.  Learning to walk is hard work!

She showed Daddy her new walking skills!  My sweet baby started officially walking everywhere Wednesday 21st!  She has been taking steps for a few weeks, but that was the day she let go and hasn't looked back.  Girl is running circles around me now!
Olivia and I agreed that next time he has to leave we are hiding in his suitcase ;)

We went to a surprise 30th birthday party for a couple of very dear friends...yes, that means that my very own big 3-0 is just around the corner!!  We celebrated at the lake.  It was still a little chilly to swim, but we had lots of fun hanging out and pigging out on all the yummy food!

Olivia was super excited to wear her sailboat dress, perfect for a day at the lake :)

Last Friday my baby girl had surgery to correct a blocked tear duct that she has had since birth.  They are very common, but go away in the first 6 months usually.  Poor Olivia's was a stubborn case.  She would wake up every morning with her eye matted shut and I would have to clean it out multiple times a day.  At our 9 month appointment our pediatrician recommended us to a specialist and he said she definitely needed the surgery.  The way they explained it to me was very simple.  The insert a hollow wire into her tear duct and then thread a needle through the wire and basically pierce the blocked tear duct and it should clear.  He said she would have no signs on the outside that she even had surgery.  You can imagine my shock when they brought her to me after recovery looking like this...

I was already a nervous wreck, because I could hear her crying down the hall in recovery and they wouldn't let me see her yet.  She, of course, cried when they took her into surgery.  The doctor came into see us after and said everything went great.  It only took about 15 minutes.  When I first saw her she was swollen and bloody and tears just welled up in my eyes.  They gave her to me and she snuggled her head into my chest and fell straight asleep.  That is pretty much what we did the rest of the day...besides put eyedrops in her eye 4 times, nasal spray twice and 2 doses of oral medicine.  Needless to say, it was a crazy day.  Friday evening she woke up from her nap in a much better mood, but she was still drunk from the anesthesia.  She was trying to walk, but kept leaning to one side and falling.  Poor thing couldn't keep her balance and she was trying to run around everywhere.  She woke up feeling like a brand new woman Saturday morning so we decided to go ahead with our plans to go to the lake for Memorial Day weekend.  Most of the swelling had gone down and she was left with a bruise/mark on her eyelid and still a little bit of a bloody nose.  That mark turned into a scab, I am pretty sure that is where the doctor pushed to insert the wire and that skin is so thin it just broke.  It is almost healed up now though :)  Her eye is doing great.  Still a little watery at times, but it has been clear every morning and throughout the day so I am hoping the surgery was a success!

She was in pretty good spirits for being woken up at 5:30am
Before surgery, having a little fun

The day after surgery, looking a whole lot better :)

May has been a wonderful month.  Seeing it come to a close is bittersweet for me.  I am so happy for June and the start of summer, but that also means my tiny baby is almost ONE!
Here's to slowing down and enjoying every day to the fullest!

11 Months Old

Chopstix!
I cannot believe we have had this sweet little bundle of joy in our lives for almost a year now.  It seems like just yesterday I held her in my arms for the first time, but then it also feels like she has been with us forever.  She is such a perfect little piece of our family.
This month has been so exciting!  I am not just saying this, life with a baby just gets more fun every day. Minus a few of those days when you get approximately 30 minutes of sleep maybe ;)
It is so fun seeing the world through her little eyes.  It makes the same old experiences that I do all the time like brand new.  Lots of new tricks and fun stuff this month!
Happy almost Birthday sweet girl!!!

The biggest development this month is definitely walking...or almost walking!  You will take several steps on your own, but you still prefer to crawl to get where you need to go faster.  You are super quick on those knees too!  Your favorite thing right now is literally running through the house with your little walker. You man-handle that thing and it is so funny to watch!  You love to hold mine or Daddy's hand and walk around too.  You can totally walk by yourself when you want to though.

You are at that extremely annoying stage where you have to pull your bow out of your hair every time you feel it...I know, pretty horrible right?? ;)
You even feel up there when you don't have a bow in just to make sure there is nothing in your hair.  I do have to say that it is pretty cute when you get it out.  You are super proud of yourself.

Speaking of hair, I am obsessed with yours!  It is so soft and curly and I just love it.  Looks like maybe you did get a little bit of mommy genes after all ;)

You now clap your hands when I say "yay" or "patty-cake"...or when you eat cake or anything else you really like.  I absolutely love watching you do this.  It is so cute!

We play peek-a-boo about a hundred times a day and it never gets old.  Your favorite spot is behind your curtains in your room.  You giggle the whole time and pull back the curtain and squeal when I say BOO!  Your sweet little scrunchy nose smile just melts me :)

I don't know how you don't weigh 50 pounds.  You eat like a boss!  You are pretty much done with baby food, but sometimes you let Daddy feed you.  When it is just us girls you prefer to feed yourself and you do an excellent job, I must say.  I have to fix you your own plate because you will eat all of mine if I don't!
Now that you have a molar - oh yeah, you only cut one tooth, but it was a doosie and the other side is right behind it!- you can eat lots of goodies!

Jibber-jabber!  Your little mouth is moving from the time you wake up now to when you go to sleep.  You now say: mama, bye-bye, bite (or mmmm when you want a bite), no-no (mostly to me when you are doing something you shouldn't be) and finally DADA!  We have been waiting on that one for a while!  You definitely understand a lot more than you say though.

Your favorite toys right now are anything that you can push around, that includes the kitchen bar stools sometimes.  You also love the plastic Easter eggs. I put them together and you crack them open and try your best to get them together again.   You love stuffed animals! You bury your sweet little face in and give them love saying "ooohhhhh" the whole time.  It is beyond precious.

You give real kisses now!  It is the sweetest thing.   You actually pucker your little lips up and give real kisses.  You even try to make this kiss noise and it is hilarious.

I think we are both excited for summer and getting outside more.  You love to play in the water and splash around.  I can't wait until we can go to Nana's pool and play.  I know you are going to love it.

I have to admit that most of the photo shoot went like this.  Any time you see me get the camera out or my phone you turn and run the other way.  When you aren't running from me you are trying to get the camera and this is the result of a mean mommy who wouldn't let you have it.

Baby girl, you are a constant source of happiness and laughter to Daddy and me.  I just love your sweet little personality.  You are so silly and even a little mischievous.  You have a love for life that makes me excited to do the smallest things with you.  I am so blessed that I get to be your best friend and I hope that we always are.  I love you so much my sweet Olivia Jane!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!
Today has been a very special day celebrating my very first Mother's Day as a mama.  I am overwhelmed with love from my friends and family and my beautiful little girl.  I am so honored that God blessed me to be the wife of an amazing husband and a sweet little angel baby.

Olivia wanted to be sure she was the first to tell me Happy Mother's Day with a 4:30 am wake up call.  She hasn't been up in the night in forever so I know she did this just for me, such a little sweetheart.  I brought her back to bed with us until she fell asleep and then took her back to her bed.  She slept until around 7:30, her norm, and Chad got up with her and let me sleep in as he does every weekend.  This man is pure gold I tell ya!  When I got up we had breakfast together and I got to open my presents.  Chad and Olivia got me a beautiful jewelry armoire and some goodies to go in it.  They also got me a ton of candy that will definitely not help out my bikini body.  We had lunch reservations at my favorite restaurant, Brio.  The sun peeked out and it actually turned out to be a beautiful day after a pretty rainy past few days.  We ate a ton and finished off a delicious meal with a chocolate lava cake!  Olivia clapped the whole time I fed it to her saying "mmmm".  It was that good.

Just a little game of peek-a-boo with the plates while waiting on our food.

After lunch we walked around by the fountain and Olivia loved the water.  She wanted in so bad.  We walked around the mall a little too.  She is soooo close to walking on her own. She can totally do it if and when she wants, but she likes the security of having our hand to hold on to and I have to admit I kinda love it too.

This day was a little bitter sweet because I really loved all of the special family time we had, but Chad had to leave for a conference this afternoon and will be gone all week.  I know that is not a very long time, but I still miss him like crazy.  He did his best to make sure my day was super special and it was :)

After Chad left for the airport and Olivia woke up from her nap we headed over to Nana's for a little more celebrating.  I am really close to my Mom and I am so thankful to have such a sweet and special role model to teach me how to be a mom.
We had such a fun day filled with so much love.

I have to say a special thanks to my sweet hubby.  Without him I would not be able to be the mother I am.
He helps me so much with our sweet girl and works hard so I can stay home with her.  He encourages me, stands beside me through long days and nights and is an amazing father and husband to Olivia and me.  Chad Pearson, parenthood would not be nearly as much fun without you ;)

I hope everyone had a great day. Wish me luck with my week as a single mom ;)

Weekend Fun

With our busy schedule sometimes it is nice to just sit back and smell the roses (literally - more on that in a bit)  It seems like since I have stopped working I have so much more to do and I wonder how I got everything done before..then I remember I didn't have this wonderful little ball of energy ;)  I have been wanting to start some projects around the house and in the yard for a while now and we finally got to it this weekend.  We have a pretty steep hill in our back yard and we had a mason come out and look at building us some steps to get down to the flat area.  I am super excited for this project, more ideas coming soon!
This weekend was all about relaxing and spending some time together as a family since our last couple of weekends have been really hectic with Easter and family events. Chad ended up having to work late on Friday night so Olivia and I went and ate with the girls.

She loved getting attention and showing off her new almost walking skills in the parking lot after dinner.  It was so nice to catch up with the girls.  I must say though, it can be a little challenging engaging in conversation when you have puffs being hurled at your head and an angry little voice muttering mamama when she runs out of chips, haha.

Saturday was a beautiful day!  I cleaned out and organized Olivia's closet, a task that I need Chad home in order to accomplish without somebody tearing everything apart I just folded.  After lunch we took a little trip to the park.  Ever since she was born Olivia has loved to swing.  You cannot help but smile when you see her sweet little face light up as soon as she gets in the swing.  She giggles and smiles and kicks her little legs with joy the whole time she is swinging.  It is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

Look at those sweet little teefies!!

She is soooo close to walking.  She walked all over the park holding my one finger.  I just cannot believe how big she is getting.  She will let go and take a few steps on her own and then drops down to crawl because she can get there faster and these days she is all about some speed.

How else are you supposed to get rocks in your mouth before mommy catches you??
side note: she was fast enough and I had to dig about 5 rocks out of her mouth over the course of 30 minutes

It was so nice to spend some time with my sweet little family with no rush or plans to be anywhere else.  We were feeling lazy so we had pizza for dinner and took a walk around the neighborhood to finish out the lovely day.

Apparently I thought the parking lot in the back ground was a nice spot for a photo opp...mommy fail

We had big plans for Sunday.  We were going to go to church, take a trip to Lowe's and spend the afternoon planting new flowers in the yard.  All of those plans got scrapped when Chad got called into work Sunday morning.  Luckily he could do everything from home, but he spent almost the whole day up in the office dealing with Microsoft.  I was pretty bummed he could not hang out with us, but Olivia and I had some fun of our own.  I blew up her little pool and set it up on the back deck and we had some splish-splashin fun!

She thought it was hilarious to climb in and out getting water everywhere.  I filled the pool with warm water even though it was 86 degrees yesterday.  She loves bath time so I knew she would love playing in her pool.  I can't wait to go to Nana's big pool soon!

Why yes, that is homemade breast milk popsicle ;)  She went through a phase where she started waking up again at night for about a week and then stopped so that left me having to pump again until my body regulated the supply back down.  I had a bunch of milk that she won't take from a bottle so popsicles it is!

Holding a popsicle like a big girl is hard work!

Chad finally got done with his work emergency around 5 and he got to join in the fun for the rest of the day.  We took another walk after dinner since he didn't get to go outside all day.  All in all it was not the weekend we had hoped for, but we made the best of it and ended up having a pretty great time.
Ready for some lazy summer weekends just around the corner!
Happy Monday :)
