2 Year Anniversary!

I don't even know where to start with this post.  When I think about the last two years of my life I have to just sit and smile.  I married the man of my dreams and now have a perfect little angel baby to share with him.  It feels like we have been married for a lot longer than 2 years!  It is hard for me to even imagine my life before I met my sweet hubby.  I guess the best way to celebrate is to share our story from the beginning...

I have to give credit to my sweet crazy little sister.  She is a dental hygienist where Chad gets his teeth cleaned.  He went in one day for his regular cleaning and he was booked with her instead of his regular girl.  As she was cleaning his teeth she said the thought just came to her "this is Julie's husband" (told you she was crazy). She has never tried to set me up before ever, but for some reason she decided to tell him about me and give him my information.  When she told me I literally could have strangled her.  She called me all giddy telling me she met my husband and I just laughed at her.  She also told me she had filled out my application to go on The Bachelor and I had two choices:  go on a date with Chad or she was going to submit my application, haha.  I know, she's nuts right?? ;)  Still, I thought nothing of her silliness.  Later that week Chad sent me a message on Facebook (oh yeah, he's that cool) introducing himself.  We talked back and forth for a couple of weeks and then he called me and asked me on a real date.  We met for dinner after work at 26, a trendy little restaurant.  I knew from the moment I met him that there was something special there.  We were pretty much inseparable from then on.  Seven months later he asked me to be his wife and of course I said YES!  We were married 5 months later in what I could describe as my dream wedding.  The first year of our marriage was filled with Alabama football, beach vacations, one awesome Christmas party and just a few lovers spats, haha.  Shortly after our one year anniversary we found out that our party of 2 was going to become a family of 3!  We also decided to sell our house and build a new one (which is almost finished...less than a month).  On June 13, 2013 our world was changed forever with the arrival of a perfect baby girl and we are living and loving life as our new little family!

Here are some highlights of our last TWO YEARS in Pictures

I said YES!!!!

Man and Wife :)

One heck of a Christmas Party!!

An awesome 1 Year Anniversary trip to St. Thomas

New Addition

The past two years have been the best of my life.  I am so blessed to call this man my own. He truly is my other half, we complement each other in so many ways.  God knew what he was doing when he put us together.  He is my spiritual leader, my rock, my encourager, my best friend, my baby daddy and my every night back tickler!  I love every moment we get to spend together! I thought I could not love him more than I already did..I was wrong.  Seeing the way he loves our baby girl gives me a new kind of love for him that I cannot even describe.  I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us.  Here's to the next 50 years!

2 Months

I simply cannot believe this little nugget is already two months old (she is actually 10 weeks old today, momma is late to the game with this blog).  She has changed so much and it seems like she is growing bigger every day right before my very eyes!  I have to say this month has been a whole lot easier than last month.  I guess we have gotten to know each other better and I think I have this little miss figured out (for the most part).  I actually think we have made it through this month without a major melt down. Now, I may have some memory loss due to sleep deprivation, but I am going to stick to my story.  Here are some of the highlights of month 2 on the outside!!!

Monthly Milestones

I have to start with my favorite, her sweet little smile! Particularly, this smile with her tongue hanging out..I mean, does it get any cuter??  Her first real, open-mouthed, gummy grin came on her 5 week birthday and now she just smiles all of the time.  Morning time is her favorite!  We lay in bed for at least 30 minutes just talking and smiling at each other, oh this child just melts my heart!  I want to freeze her in this sweet little stage forever :)

Baby bear got kicked out of our room :(  At 6 weeks I started laying her down in her crib and totally expected it to be horrible.  To my surprise, she loved it!  I have to admit I kinda wanted her to miss me a little.  She had been sleeping in her bassinet beside my bed since we brought her home from the hospital.  I absolutely LOVE how this kid sleeps! Both arms over head, legs frogged to the side, you can just tell she is resting great! She has no time for a swaddle, hasn't since she was born.  I get nervous that she will get cold or smother herself with the 3 blankets I cover her in (please don't call DHR on me).  I grab the monitor in a panic every time I hear a weird breath.  She has also started scooting or something??  I lay her in her crib like the picture above and when I go in to get her she is all the way at the top of the crib turned horizontal and trying to eat her bumper pads!  Scared the crap out of me the first time she did it!  She is really a great sleeper though.  She goes down for the night around 8 and sleeps until around 3.  She wakes up to eat and goes right back down until around 6.  Daddy gets her and changes her and brings her in the bed with me to eat and then we snooze until 10 or 11...I know, be jealous!  That snuggle time in the morning is the absolute best!!!

First fall-ish day!!!  Mommy is especially excited about this one!  August in Alabama is usually unbearably hot, but we had a few cool days and we took advantage!  We love to be outside and we celebrated this cool evening by going for a family walk around the neighborhood.  All that exercise was hard work apparently ;)  Also, baby girl is getting some ROLLS!!!  Just look at those little chubby cheeks and chunky legs!!!

Okay, so I know you cannot even see a baby in this picture and this is not really a milestone for her, but grocery shopping alone and getting everything on your list while your baby sleeps is a pretty big accomplishment!  She has turned into my little shopping buddy.  She is so good!  She usually just looks around for a while and then falls asleep, sweet little angel :)

2 Month Check-Up!
Just look at that face, she knows something is up...
Sweet girl was so good at her doctors visit.  She had to get 4 shots and she and mommy did cry, but not for long.  We enlisted the help of Daddy to join us on this joyous occasion and he was strong for both of us, haha.  Little lady weighed in at 11 pounds 1 ounce and was 23 inches long.   Everything looked great at the doc and we get to go back and be tortured again at 4 months.  She is wearing 0-3 month clothing right now and is almost too long for her 3 month sleepers.  She still loves her swing and I honestly don't know what I would do without it!  She loves to be rocked and hates tummy time.  She is also trying to turn over already.  She can get on her side, but then gets stuck.  It seems like she is doing something new every day!

 To my sweet Olivia Jane

I fall more in love with you every single day.  You have my heart like no one in the world ever can.  I feel so blessed to be the one to take care of you, play with you and watch you grow every day.  You are the sweetest, prettiest, most cuddly little baby ever!  You are most definitely a mommy's girl right now.  Your little face lights up when you hear my voice or see me and I am sure that mine does as well.  I have been waiting on you to look at me and smile since the day you were born and it was even better than I imagined it would be! I even love those sweet little smiles and coos at 3 am :)   I love our special time together when I get to rock you to sleep.  I just stare at your sweet face and pray over you.  I know God has big plans for your life and I am here to help you along the way.  Thanks for always being my little sunshine!

New Mommy Must Haves

My sweet little bundle of joy is now 8 weeks old!  Man how the time flies when you are sleep deprived on an emotional roller coaster having fun!  I wanted to put together a list of my favorite things over these last 8 weeks.  There are so many accessories that go with a baby, but here are a few that I could not have survived without.  Hope this helps someone :)

New Mommy Must Haves
1. Fisher Price Baby Swing - a.k.a. The Baby Whisperer.  This has been a major life saver for me.  When your baby wakes up at 3am and thinks it is play time and you have had approximately 4 hours of sleep in 48 hours this swing will entertain/ lull them back to sleep.  Also, when my little one has tummy issues she likes to be put down and this swing always soothes her when she won't let me hold her.
2. Carters Sleeper - I swore I was going to dress my little doll up in all of her cute clothes every day and she would not wear her pj's all the time...turns out, these are the best things ever.  Even though she was born in the summer it is still cool in our house and I cannot stand to feel her little freezing toes.  These even have little cuffs that fold over their hands to keep fingers warm and those razor sharp talons of finger nails away from their face until you get brave enough to clip them.
3. Lansinoh Lanolin - If you are breast feeding or pumping this stuff is a life saver.  When your poor nipples are cracked and raw and just can't take another nibble this heavenly salve will heal them up quick and let you get back to business.  I swear my poor child ate a whole tube in her first week of life.  FYI- stock up on this stuff at the hospital, they should bring you as much as you need.
4. Boon Lawn Drying Rack - Whether it is breast pump accessories or bottles this will keep the clutter off of your counter and it is super cute!  It has cute accessory flowers to hang dry the little pieces too.
5. Aden + Anais Swaddle Blanket - These lightweight super soft blankets are great for any season.  My child has refused to be swaddled since day 1, but I still love to wrap her up in these cozy blankets.  Bonus: They are adorable!
6. Gap Pure Body Dance Pants - These are the softest, most comfy pants you might ever put on your body. The forgiving waist band and soft modal cotton make them perfect for wearing post baby.  I may or may not wear these every day and only take them off in case of emergency.
7. Nap Nanny - I know there is no link for this one...It has been recalled because people misused it.  Please only use one of these if you want your baby to sleep like a boss!  It is especially great for babies with reflux.  Just don't be a goob and put it in the crib and follow all of the safety rules and you will be fine.  You cannot buy these any more unfortunately, but you might find a friend or family member that still has one and is willing to part with it.  Big thanks to my sis who let me borrow hers!
8. Medela Pump in Style Breast Pump - Medela is pretty much the best on the market in terms of pumping (so hours of researching and talking to other moms has told me).  I opted for the tote bag and love that there is room to put a few diapers and change of clothes inside to use it as a diaper bag if need be.  It comes with all of the accessories that you need, although I do recommend buying an extra accessory kit (or if your insurance covers it get one from the hospital - mine did!) so you are not constantly washing parts.
9.  Medela Breast Pads - For all of you ladies who do not leak, I hate you, jk congratulations!  For the rest of you leaky booby broads these are great.  I have tried a few different brands of disposables and they were thick and I felt wet all of the time.  I tried the cotton washable ones as well and they stuck to my nipple and I thought I almost ripped one off trying to remove the pad, ouch! The Medela pads are thin enough to fit in a bra or nursing cami and can hold a crap load lot of leakage.
10. Chanel Eau Tendre Body Wash - Last, but certainly not least, a little treat for mommy! This heavenly fragrance will take you miles away from spit up and diaper blowouts! This wash is a bit pricey and used to be reserved only for special occasions.  These days, the shower is the special occasion, so you better believe if I get the chance to get wet I will be slathering this decadence over every inch of my crusty body!  Whether Chanel does it for you or not, find some luxurious treat to help unwind at the end of a long day..or couple of days ;)

And of course, what post could be complete without your daily dose of cuteness!
